Introduction
Welcome
to the Manchester School of Physiotherapy, the largest school of
physiotherapy in the UK and a centre of excellence for both undergraduate
and postgraduate studies.
The School
offers a 3 year Bachelor of Physiotherapy with Honours degree -
B.Sc. (Hons) and a number of postgraduate programmes including MSc.
Physiotherapy and MSc. Manual Therapy.
The School
has a long history dating back to 1911 and was the first school
in the UK to have its course validated for a 3 year classified degree.
The B.Sc.(Hons)
course in physiotherapy has a problem solving approach and reflects
changing health, service and educational needs.
Evidence
based practice is taught and researched at undergraduate level.
Multidisciplinary teaching and learning takes place with medical
and nursing students where appropriate throughout the course. Graduates
from this school are equipped to evaluate their practice, to adapt
to new locations of health care delivery and to audit their outcomes.
The School
has strong international links to many parts of the world. The facilities
provided for students and staff within the School are second to
none with state of the art resources and equipment.
Sited
on the campus of the University teaching hospital, the Manchester
Royal Infirmary, adjacent to the University, staff and students
are able to make full use of the facilities and resources of both
the hospital and University.
The schools
Centre for Rehabilitation Science is an internationally renowned
centre for research.
The School
also holds the coveted Investors in People award and is committed
to the continuous professional development of its staff.
