Second
Year
The
second year of the course builds on and integrates knowledge from
the units of year one.
In the second year the following subjects are covered:
- Respiratory
care
- Cardiothoracics
- Spinal
conditions
- Neurology
In
addition the students will begin to develop their third year research
project.
Clinical
Education
In
the second year clinical placements begin. These build on the clinical
observation of the first year. Placements are located in hospitals
(NHS and private), the community, schools and health centres.
These
placements are located throughout the North West of England. New
centres for clinical placement are continually being developed.
When
a student is on placement outside Central Manchester it may be necessary
for them to stay in accommodation within easy travelling distance.
Other students may be required to commute to their placements. There
may be additional expense to the student as a consequence. Students
with a maintenance bursary may be able to claim back some of their
additional expenditure.
Assessment
Comprises
a combination of:

- Written
